Services Provided

Emma offers assessment and therapy sessions in the child’s home to ensure that the child can be assessed, observed and treated in familiar and relaxed surroundings. Sessions may also take place at the child’s preschool, kindergarten or school if appropriate.

Speech and Language Assessment

The assessment process aims to find out as much as possible about the way the child is communicating. It involves gathering case history information about the child’s development (a questionnaire is completed by the parents prior to the assessment session), discussing the parents concerns and assessing the child’s speech, language and communication skills using a combination of standardised assessments, play and observations. Assessment sessions usually last between 60 and 90 minutes. For a full speech and language assessment, a comprehensive written report is provided detailing assessment results and advice. If it is just speech sounds that are assessed, then a briefer written summary report is provided (if requested).

Therapy Sessions

Individual therapy sessions are offered and can be 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes; depending on your child's age and needs. Fun and motivating activities and games are used to help your child progress. Home practice material is provided between sessions so that parents and families have ideas and strategies to continue with following the session.

Attendance at Multi-disciplinary Meetings

Emma will attend and contribute to multi-professional meetings if requested.

Pricing

Full Speech and Language Assessment including Written Report

$560.00 + GST

This full speech and language assessment in your own home lasts around 90 minutes and is the assessment required if you are concerned about your child's language development (i.e. vocabulary, grammar, ability to put words together in phrases or sentences) or their ability to understand language. The costing includes a comprehensive written report detailing results, recommendations and advice. If no written report is required, the cost is $300.00.

Speech Sound Assessment with Written Report

$280.00 + GST

The speech sound assessment is the one to choose if you are concerned about your child's speech sound development or if your child's speech is difficult to understand. The assessment lasts up to one hour. A written report is provided detailing assessment results, recommendations and advice.

Speech Sound Assessment without Written Report

$140.00 + GST

The speech sound assessment session lasts up to one hour. Results are analyzed, and recommendations are made. No written report is provided, just verbal feedback.

Therapy Session

$140.00 (+GST) for 60 minutes, $110.00 (+GST) for 45 minutes, or $80.00 (+GST) for 30 minutes

This pricing includes the session preparation and evaluation time, the actual therapy time, therapy resources, and travel up to 10km. Additional mileage will be charged at the IRD 2023 rate of 0.95c per km.

Written Report

The cost of these varies, depending on the type of report that is required and the amount of time required to write the report. Report writing is charged at $140.00 (+GST) per hour. The approximate cost of the report will be discussed with parents and caregivers prior to the report being written.
